Naturopathic Medicine & Intravenous Therapies

by Dr. Raj Rakhra

Health or disease often comes down to individual responsibility. The first step to achieve and maintain health is to become responsible for your own health. This means choosing a healthy alternative over a less healthy one. If you want to feel better and sustain good health, simply make healthy choices. The second step is taking appropriate action to accomplish the results you desire by following the basic principals of health.

Positive mental attitude is the most important factor to maintain or attain good health. What we think, feel and internally represent has a tremendous effect on the way our physiology or body functions. Our mind is so powerful, yet we only utilize a fraction of its capabilities. Abraham Maslow, the founding father of psychology, discovered that healthy individuals are motivated towards self- actualization, a process of potentials, capacities, and talents, as fulfillment of a mission. He developed five steps of human needs in which the personality develops from one step to the next. The need for the lower levels must be satisfied before the next level can be achieved. When the needs are met, the individual moves towards well being. (1) Physiological needs, (2) Safety, (3) Love, (4) Esteem, (5) Self Actualization. Self actualized people perceive reality more effectively, as they have an acceptance of self, others and nature. They have a mission or purpose in life and are enthusiastic to fulfill their mission.

Diet - A diet that provides the optimum level of all known nutrients is very important. Poor and low levels of food components that are not healthy; such as refined sugar, saturated fats, cholesterol producing foods, salt and additives are frequently used in our commercial society and are creating all kinds of degenerative and chronic disorders. Dietary intake and energy utilization must be adjusted to maintain an appropriate weight. A healthy diet is rich in whole, natural and unprocessed foods. It is especially high in plant foods. A healthy diet must contain adequate but not excessive quantities of protein.

Exercise - Exercise is beneficial to the entire body as it improves cardiovascular and respiratory function. It enhances the transportation of oxygen and nutrients into the cells. At the same time, it increases the transportation of carbon dioxide and waste products from the tissues of the body to the bloodstream and to the organs that can remove the waste from the body. Regular exercise reduces the risk of coronary artery diseases by lowering the bad cholesterol, and improving blood and oxygen supply to the heart, thus improving functional capacity of the heart, reducing blood pressure, obesity and diabetes. As a result, stress and depression is reduced, eventually, improving overall well being.

Many supportive measures could also be used like the ones we employ in our clinic, such as Herbs, Vitamins, Homeopathic remedies, Ayurvedic Medicines and Natural supplements including

Complementary Intravenous therapies
Vitamins and Minerals

Nutritional supplements can provide valuable nutrition which may be lacking in our processed diets. People with digestive system disorders may eat well but they may not assimilate the required nutrients. So a good quality multivitamin and mineral supplement is strongly recommended. Some people with chronic fatigue, cancer, depression and many other diseases are helped by intravenous or intramuscular use of vitamins and minerals. Vitamin C and a combination of other vitamins and minerals are effectively used for various chronic disorders. They are absorbed directly into the blood, bypassing the digestive organs and raising the concentration to a therapeutic level.

Chelation Therapy - It has been used safely on millions of patients throughout the U.S. General information and the safety protocol for the infusion of EDTA, a chelator, is set by the American College of Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), Association of Medical Doctors.

Chelation Treatment is important in three medical areas:
1-Circulatory disorders such as arteriosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. 2-Abnormal calcium deposits, found in arthritis, osteoarthritis. bursitis, tendonitis. 3-Toxicity due to such things as heavy metals, post chemotherapy, drug addiction, alcoholism. Besides EDTA, there are other products that are being used as chelators, such as DMPS, DMSA, Alpha Lipoic acid (ALA.), depending on what toxic metals are involved. Other chelating agents have been discovered. They all have the properties to bind with metal ions, so that the ion is held by several chemical bonds and thus render it much less chemically reactive and water soluble. This allows the ions to enter the bloodstream and be excreted safely by the body.

Oxygen therapies - Dr. Otto Warburg M.D. observed that cancer cells have a lower respiration rate than normal healthy cells. The cancer cells therefore grow better in a low-oxygen environment and by introducing a higher oxygen level, it could retard their growth or kill them.

Hydrogen peroxide is infused quite effectively for the treatment of respiratory and other viral infections.

Ozone is used through various routes
It is absorbed through vaginal insufflation, for candida, viral infections, and other pelvic inflammatory and chronic disorders. Rectal insufflation is used for irritable bowel, colitis and many other chronic problems.

Intravenous Infusions autohemo therapy means to draw the blood in a vacuum bottle and saturate it with ozone and infuse it back into the body. Other common methods are to saturate saline or dextrose fluids with ozone and infuse it. The mixture of oxygen and ozone is slowly injected into the vein. All of these methods work very well. Ozone is also injected into various soft tissue injuries effectively. Ozone inactivates viruses, bacterias, yeast (Candida), and fungus, supports the immune system and helps to clean arteries and veins, improving circulation, reducing inflammation, pain and prevents stroke damage. It also oxidizes toxins, allows the toxins to be excreted and chelates heavy metals. It works very well along with EDTA.

Vitamin Therapy - Other intravenous nutrient therapies include Myers Cocktail, a combination of specific vitamins and minerals, that are filled in a syringe, diluted and injected into a vein. This procedure is also called a bolus. It is a quick and convenient treatment used for a variety of disorders.

High Dose Vitamin C is infused for various chronic conditions such as allergies. Cancer patients are infused with a high dose of vitamin C to strengthen the body. During times of stress, depression and many other chronic conditions, vitamin C can help alleviate symptoms. It also acts as a weak chelator and is a part of EDTA chelation. All these complementary therapies are compatible with most other treatments and will provide the stepping stones to a more fulfilled life, health, wellness and are closer to your true nature.
