Contemplating retirement
from my nursing career, a good friend of mine, Carol, wanted
to introduce me to colonics.
"Carol I don't know a thing about colonics and am not interested."
I responded, "Besides I want to travel when I retire."
Carol wouldn't take no for an answer. For weeks she continued
to discuss colonics with me.
"I know you would be good at colonics" Carol urged,
"just come with me this once and I'll not mention it again."
I finally succumbed to her pressure, and was pleasantly surprised.
I was introduced to the flow of toxins, gas and yeast irrigated
out of the body. The client reported feeling no discomfort whatsoever
during the procedure and exclaimed how cleansed and light she
felt after the colonic; a definite difference from the bloated
constipated feeling from before.
I was so stimulated by what I saw that I wanted to experience
it for myself. For many years, I suffered with skin eruptions
that were treated medically but continued to reappear month after
month. I wanted to see if my skin would improve with colonics
and signed up for a series of colonics.
This introduction to colonics more than sparked my interest.
My enthusiasm escalated as I recalled my in-law's sluggish discomfort
in their old age, obtaining temporary relief by using laxatives.
Even in my nursing profession, there was no emphasis placed on
regularity or bowel care. Regularity could comprise of once a
day, every three days or once every three weeks for some, and
was just known as 'their pattern.'
"Wow!" I thought, "This procedure could benefit
so many!"
I enrolled in a colon hydrotherapy course and learned that colonics
is not a new practice. Artifacts and records show that people
did cleanse their bodies historically. Up to the late 1920s,
many medical doctors had colonic machines in their offices. I
was amazed to learn of the benefits of colonics. Colon hydrotherapy
is a safe, effective method for removing waste from the large
intestine and is most beneficial when combined with sufficient
nutrient and fluid intake as well as exercise. Clients report
that they have more energy, clearer skin and eyes, relief from
painful menstruation, improved digestion, reduced cravings for
sugars and starches, relief from the discomfort of colitis and
other gastro-intestinal disorders, enhanced mental clarity, improved
nutritional absorption, weight loss and relief from gas
all increasing the general feeling of optimal health.
Noticing progress in my own health, colonics combined with nutrition
made an astonishing improvement regarding my skin. I became fully
aware that I am solely responsible for my own well-being! As
well, I experienced having more energy, a better sleeping pattern,
and a trimmer waistline. Humbly, I recalled my previous energy
level. I was constantly exhausted; I needed a nap after lunch
and dinner on my days off. Now, I had a new life!
I continued my nursing profession part time. Now inspired by
colon hydrotherapy, I wanted to learn more. I took courses in
iridology, ozone therapy, foot care, blood life analysis, and
reflexology. I studied every piece of literature on bowel care
that I could lay my hands on. Books of Dr. Bernard Jensen were
my favorite. His books seemed to put everything in perspective
for me. His views regarding colon hydrotherapy consolidated mine.
I found my niche!
It didn't matter what I was doing, my thoughts were constantly
on colonics.
"The bowel is the most neglected part of the body. It is
such a sensitive subject; no one discusses colonics as freely
as they do their hair, nails or massage appointments. Perhaps
it's because most are unaware of colonics and its benefits. When
any reference is made about the bowel, it is with embarrassment,
as a joke regarding gas or the odor associated with it."
As I folded fresh sheets from the dryer in the clinic where I
worked, I visualized folding my own sheets in my own clinic.
As always, when events are meant to transpire - doors opened
for me and things just seemed to fall into place. I opened my
own clinic, July 2000. I enjoyed decorating, and tried to create
a décor personifying a holistic atmosphere. My colonics
room, sanitized and freshly cleaned was equipped with the necessary
equipment. Supplies were in and stored; cases of good nutrition
were stocked in my cupboard. The office was large enough to house
a consultation area. All the furniture was in its place. I sat
down to congratulate myself on a job well done. I looked at the
idle computer, fax machine and spoke to the telephone.
"Come on telephone, ring! My new appointment book is blank."
There wasn't a client in sight.
My sister came to visit from Ontario. She informed me that the
family was routing for me and the general consensus was: If Willie
is giving up a stable income and career, and doing that, she
must really believe in it. She became my first client.
My first year was slow. I visited health practitioners and promoted
my business. Referrals started coming in. Often clients commented
that they didn't know of anyone who would want to do this for
a living.
My business has grown immensely; mainly from client referrals
and by word-of-mouth. I work at it full time, loving every minute.
As well, I provide colon hydrotherapy apprenticeship training
and employ an office assistant.
"Thanks to all my clients and health practitioners for the
successful business I have today. I couldn't have done it without
you!"
